What She Taught Me
This little poem is dedicated to my dear mamma on this Mother’s Day. She has had an outsized influence on multiple facets of my life. She is the one that kindled the tiny embers of curiosity, creativity and adventure in me when I was a kid. She taught me the value of drawing people together around a fire, good food and one or two crazy plans that are good sparks for forging great memories. She is a passionate person that sparks passion in others.
This is to you mamma!
What She Taught Me
She taught me
To walk
To run
To scribble, to colour, to sew
She taught me
To play
To laugh
To hammer together a sturdy treehouse
She taught me
To adventure
To hook trout on a line with worms
To collect matchbox cars and play and play
She taught me
To love
To sacrifice
To put myself aside for the Kingdom of God
She taught me
To love words
To love the Word
To have purpose beyond what can be seen
She taught me
To make good food
To gather people and make memories
To make the kind of home where children thrive
This is what she taught me

Beautiful tribute. Your mamma is something special, all right.
